When you buy a door, getting the right size is very important. If the size is wrong, the door won’t fit properly. This can create problems during installation and even cause future issues like gaps, noise or poor insulation.
At Kavish Doors, we guide our customers to get the perfect door size. In this blog, we’ll show you how to measure your door size correctly in a simple way.
Why Measuring the Door Size is Important
- A perfect fit = easy installation
- No extra cutting or adjustments
- Better look and smooth working
- No air, dust or sound leakage
What You’ll Need
- A steel measuring tape
- A pencil and notebook

Step-by-Step: How to Measure Door Size
1. Measure the Width
Take the measurement from left to right inside the door frame.
- Take 3 readings: top, middle and bottom.
- Use the smallest width as the final size.
- Example: 32.7 inches, 32.6 inches, 32.5 inches → final width is 32.5 inches
2. Measure the Height
Measure from the floor to the top of the door frame.
- Again, take 2-3 readings (left, center, right).
- Use the smallest one as your final height.
3. Measure the Thickness (Optional but Helpful)
Measure the side wall or existing door thickness.
- Standard flush door thickness: 30mm, 32mm or 35mm
- Kavish Doors can provide custom thickness too.
Important Tip: Always Measure in Inches or Soot
At Kavish Doors, we also provide help in inches and soot system, which is commonly used in India.
Example:
- 32 inch 2 soot = 32.25 inches
